Fire Safety Instruction with Fire Extinguishing Training at the Garching Campus
Hochschulreferat 6 and the TUM Fire-Brigade Garching offer a modular training on fire protection and trainings.
In all cases, the basis is a theoretical preparation with information on fire prevention, the selection of fire extinguishers, and general behavior in case of danger. This takes place online in an interactive Moodle course. Participants have the opportunity to acquire the necessary knowledge at their own pace and with the level of detail they desire. The online course concludes with a short test, which is a prerequisite for the other modules.
Alternatively, this theoretical part can also be used as online fire safety training without participating in fire extinguisher training.
Fire Extinguishing Training at the Garching Campus
During this approximately half-hour training session, participants can put the knowledge they acquired in the theory section into practice in a safe simulation environment.

The training is led by our fire brigade personnel, who can also answer any questions that remain from the theory section.

Advanced course for fire safety assistants
This classroom-based course is aimed at employees at the Garching campus who would like to act as fire safety assistants ("Brandschutzhelfer") in their area. Fire safety assistants are trained in the safe handling and use of fire extinguishing equipment to combat incipient fires. The training content specified in the regulations (DGUV Information 205-023) goes beyond the content of the ‘Fire Safety Instruction with Extinguishing Training’ in both theory and practice.
The basis is again the online theory section with a final eTest. Building on this, topics from the field of operational fire protection and operational extinguishing equipment are explored in greater depth in a face-to-face seminar. Following the seminar section, practical exercises take place on a fire extinguisher trainer and other extinguishing equipment.
